Clary sage (Salvia sclarea) is a perennial herb, about 3 feet tall with large, furry leaves and blue flowers.  The essential oil has a distinctive, earthy, herbaceous, floral scent.  The aroma is fresh and uplifting and thought to be mildly euphoric.  Clary sage has traditionally been used as an antidepressant, relaxant and as a regulator of women's hormones. Many have found it particularly useful for PMS, cramps and menopausal hot flashes.
